5 quick tips for meditating at your desk
Before we begin, let’s get something straight: Meditation is not the whole yoga mat aesthetic. Meditation is simply the observation of thought and grounding in the present, without judgment. Without further ado, here we go:
Recognize that your thoughts are running away from you. Self-awareness is power.
Get in a comfortable position, whether it is standing or sitting. Feel your feet firmly on the ground, straighten your spine, and keep your hands in a rested position.
Take three deep breaths. Feel the air in your lungs, how your lungs expand and deflate, and observe the thoughts that appear in your mind.
Ask yourself: are my thoughts racing? Can I slow them down or focus as I steady my breathing? Can I now look at my thoughts and feelings, instead of from them?
Take as much time as you need in the space until you feel like you have peace and clarity of mind. Now take on the day!
